Eyebrow Extensions 101 with The Luxx Lash Salon & Boutique

How Does the Eyebrow Extension Process Work?

The eyebrow extension process is generally pain-free and isn’t a huge time commitment for the customer.

Step 1: Threading the Brows

The first step in the process is really the only part that can be physically irritating. Threading or cleaning up the brow area is necessary before completing the final two steps. Keep in mind, an artist needs a clean canvas to perfect their craft.

Step 2: Brush Back the Brows

During this step, after the brows have been rubbed with an alcohol pad to remove bacteria and natural oils, the hairs are brushed back. Once this occurs, the primer is applied to prepare the hair for adhesive.

Step 3: Adhesive

The final step is where individual hairs are placed on the brow. The size of these hairs ranges between 5 and 8mm. Since each synthetic hair is placed one by one, much like eyelash extensions, this process takes a fair amount of time. Also, the time the process takes depends on how much brow that you need to be placed in the area.

This is a much different process than eyebrow microblading, which is more of a semi-permanent makeup job.

How Long Do They Last?Beautiful Eyebrows Luxx Lash

With proper aftercare, your eyebrow extensions can last up to 14 days. Some tips that we recommend in order to ensure that your extensions last to completion are:
• Do not wet them for 24 hours after application
• No oil-based products around the area
• Avoid touching the brows or rubbing the area
Oil loosens the glue that holds the air to your natural hair. Even the natural oils of your fingers can cause your eyebrow extensions to fail and fall out.

Although microblading eyebrows is an easier to handle method, unlike eyebrow extensions, there are still some maintenance issues that arise with microblading aftercare.
Your new eyebrows are beautiful but came at a cost that ensures that you do not want to ruin them. Here are a few facts about the healing process and what to avoid the first few days into the microblading after-care period.

The Healing Process

The healing process of microblading is entirely dependent on your body’s regeneration, age, immune system, and overall lifestyle. The average healing process takes between 4-6 weeks depending on the circumstances of your body type.
Your brow will most likely itch or develop dry and flaky skin around the area. It is important to not pick or peel at these areas. Remember, that improper care of your brow often results in an early fade or patches of brow on the skin.

• Drinking Alcohol in Excess

One thing that we suggest when cleaning your face is to wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. While showering, keep your face away from the initial water stream or opt to simply take a bath.

What to Expect After Initial Microblading

After your initial recovery period, you may notice that your brows will appear to be lighter than they were during the initial process. Even with proper care, due to skin regeneration, customers may experience loose original hair strokes making the brows look uneven.
Remember, your regeneration process is not something that one of our technicians can control. This is why most of our customers tend to schedule a touch-up after a month out from their initial microblading session.

Eyelash Extensions Done Right, The Luxx Lash Way

It’s no surprise that lash extensions have become increasingly popular in recent years.

What Are The Most Common Type Of Lash Extensions?

Our classic sets utilize single strand Xtreme Lashes, which are attached one-by-one to your own natural lashes. There are three commonly applied eyelash extensions: synthetic, silk and mink.

  • bad-lash-extensionsSynthetic: The most common false eyelashes on the market are made from synthetic materials, typically plastic fibers, and are thicker than the typical human lashes with stubbier ends. Synthetic eyelashes tend to be the less expensive of lash extensions – making them the perfect addition for a vacation, night out, or celebration (wedding, anniversary, etc.)
  • Silk: The finest and more flexible of the options, silk extensions come in variety of curls and lengths. Silk lashes tend to be thicker than any other type of extensions, and also have that rich black color; however, they tend to be the least comfortable type of extension and are best used for special occasions.
  • Mink: With Mink extensions you’ll get a light, fluffy, soft natural look. The extensions usually last longer because they are so light as well as being able to apply several mink extensions per natural lash. The biggest downside to mink lash extensions is the price: they are generally higher-priced, and do not come curled. Mink lash extensions require a perm or lash curler to keep them curled.

Keeping Lash Extensions Clean

When wearing lash extensions, it can be tempting to scale back on your cleansing routine. After all, the less your eyes come in contact with soap and water, the longer they’ll stick around. Luxx Lash recommends using a gentle cleanser, such as diluted baby shampoo, to keep your lashes healthy and long-lasting for weeks. Touch-ups are generally required every 2-3 weeks for prolonged use and care. Having the extensions removed is as easy as having them put on–painless and relatively quick. However, you can also wait for them to shed naturally along with your natural eyelashes.

Your Regular Makeup Routine

If you are planning to wear mascara in addition to the extensions, only use it on the tips of the extensions and with a very light hand. This will be enough to give your eyes that “pop” along with the extensions. Using mascara at the base of the extensions will get very clumpy and have them appear fake looking. Only liquid-based eye products can be damaging to the extensions, but you can get away with a tiny wing of liquid liner as long as you’re not dragging it along the lash line. The Do’s and Don’ts of Sunless Tanning (Part 2)

Sunless tanning is a safe, easy, and affordable way to get a flawless, natural-looking, beautiful bronze tan that will keep you glowing at any time of the year. While there are many self-tanning products available, it is always best to make an appointment at a tanning or beauty salon and have it done professionally.

In addition to services such as lash extension and eyebrow extension application, Luxx Lash Salon & Boutique also offers sunless tanning. We use organic Sjoulie Sunless products and equipment, which is known as the premier tanning product in the industry, on all of our clients. However, while selecting an experienced local salon that uses high quality products is important, there are a few things that you should and shouldn’t do in order to extend the life of your tan. Here are a few DO’s and DON’Ts of sunless tanning, continued from Part 1.

DON’T schedule spray tans more than once per week

Whether it’s achieved indoors, outdoors, or through a spray tan, there are many different reasons why people desire a golden bronze color on their skin. A tan defines and highlights the toned parts of your body while camouflaging stretch marks and cellulite, giving the illusion of a slimmer figure. It evens out your skin tone, giving you a flawless complexion without a drop of foundation. In other words, a tan can transform your look from ordinary to supermodel.

With all of the aesthetic benefits, it’s easy to get hooked on regular tanning. However, it’s important to keep your spray tanning sessions at least 10 days apart. Similar to nail polish, you want the majority of the spray to be washed off your skin before applying a new coat. Failure to do so will result in an uneven and unnatural looking finish.

DO prepare your skin

Prior to your appointment, you want to make sure that your skin is prepped and ready to absorb the tanning solution. Think of it as creating a clean, smooth, even canvas for your sunless tanning artist to paint on. Showering, shaving, and exfoliating your skin before a tanning session will ensure that your final look is a stunning work of art.

DO wear the right clothing before and after your sunless tanning appointment

If you’ve ever seen a spray tanning session in progress, you know that most clients wear little to no clothing in order to tan as much skin as possible. Although many tanning salons provide disposable bras and underwear for clients to wear during the procedure, you still need a comfortable outfit to arrive and leave in. Opt for an outfit that is loose and comfortable. While most professional tanning solutions dry quickly, it’s always possible for it to rub off with the friction of tight clothing. Also, wear something dark colored to avoid staining lighter clothing.

DON’T sit in water

Thankfully, there aren’t many things that are off-limits with a spray tan. However, one of the few things that you should not do is soak in water. This means that baths and swimming should be avoided if you’d like to maximize the life of your tan. In general, you should limit your time in the water. To get in and out of the shower quickly, rinse and use soap only in necessary areas.

DO use touch-up productssunless tanning maintenance

To prolong your spray tan as much as possible, invest in some tan-friendly products such as light bronzing creams and towelettes. This is especially recommended during a vacation or trip where you will be spending time in the water.

Spray tans are relatively low maintenance. However, by following these tips, you can get the most out of each tan and make your sexy bronze glow last as long as possible.

Although they have the same function and cosmetic benefits, eyelash extensions and false lashes are very different when it comes to appearance, lasting power, and cost. 4. Maintenance

Fake eyelashes are a temporary solution for achieving a bold, voluminous lash line. Hence, they are not worn for a long enough time to require routine maintenance. However, if you would like to reuse your lashes more than once, be sure to keep them in a designated container away from any moisture.

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions, on the other hand, require more maintenance since they are worn for a much longer period of time. In fact, if you want to maximize the beauty and life of your eye lash extensions, proper maintenance is a must. Wearers of lash extensions should stay clear away from any cleansers or beauty products containing oil, as well as any applicators that could contain lint – such as cotton pads. This, in addition to the use of standard mascara and eye makeup, could cause your eyelashes to shed prematurely. If you would like your eye lash extensions to last as long as possible – up to one year if properly maintained – it’s also important to revisit your eyelash extension salon every 2 – 3 weeks to refill any spaces and gaps that occur in between due to eyelashes falling out.

5. Lasting Powerlash extensions application

As mentioned previously, eyelash extensions can last up to one year if refilled every 4 to 6 weeks. False lashes do not last nearly as long, as even the reusable ones can only be used a few times.

6. Appearance

Lash extensions are designed to replicate the look, feel, and texture of natural eyelashes. Although they are technically artificial lashes, they are made from high quality materials like mink hair and are applied individually. Hence, when applied, mink lashes create a light and feathery appearance.
