When applied by a properly trained and certified stylist who uses quality products, then yes. One note of caution: We hear countless stories of individuals who go to an untrained lash technician because the cost is low. They receive a substandard set of lashes that are clumpy, painful and often damaging to their real lashes. A proper application of lashes is not painful during or after the procedure. Eyelash extension application is an exacting process that takes time and skill. If the cost is very cheap or the session time is rushed, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well the quality of the product. Furthermore, beware of places that offer tabbing, which is a short-cut process that initially looks the same but takes a lot less time to apply and can put stress on your real lashes, potentially damaging them. Ultimately, the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true.
First 24 hours:
- Avoid showering, steam rooms, massages and facials after lash application. Do not wet the lashes and absolutely no crying!
After 24 hours:
- Use a pointed cotton swab and an oil-free makeup remover (we like ours best <3) to keep your eyes clean. It’s also a great way to remove your eye makeup.
- The NO-NO’s: no curling your lashes, no mascara, no smooshing your face on your pillow, and no eyemasks.
- Use a facecloth to wash your face – also great for a gentle daily exfoliation.
- Avoid facing the shower. They’re waterproof, but not jet-spray-in-your-face-proof.
- Use a headband when you’re hitting the gym or working up a sweat. Not only is it oh-so-trendy, but it also prevents sweat from dripping into your eyes. Longer lashes catch
water and draw them into the eyes. Ask a friend who lived with real long lashes all her life. Yeah we’re jealous too. - Should they “shift” use tweezers to adjust them back into place. Best is after a shower and let them dry in “position”
- Hold down your lashes when you’re getting your eyebrows threaded. Sometimes those suckers get caught in the thread. Ouch!
During the application, we can’t tell which ones are at the beginning or end of their growth cycle. If we happen to apply it onto an eyelash that’s near its demise (so to speak) then we sadly are unable to resuscitate that poor lash!
Avoid wearing makeup – dirt and grime can disintegrate the glue and many eyeliners are oil-based. This isn’t to say DON’T, but keeping the lashes free of oil and dirt will definitely add to their longevity. We recommend using Geisha Ink Liquid Eyeliner and powder eyeshadows, not creams. Our lash extender coating is also available. They add a glossy, clear layer to protect the lashes and should be applied daily.
The application of lash extensions will not cause hair loss, nor will it cause eyelashes to fall out. However, if you pull them out, well, then… you’ve pulled them out! Remember that your natural lashes have their own life cycle of falling and growing – like the hair found elsewhere on your body. It’s just hard to notice small lashes falling out, but when attached to a thicker, longer lash it’s hard not to notice! And of course, once the extensions are removed, your own eyes may appear smaller, your natural lashes, shorter and sparser because you’ve been accustomed to a full set of longer, thicker lashes! Some use extensions for special occasions, others are addicts for life – use at your discretion.
The Short Answer: Approximately four to eight weeks, depending on your natural hair growth cycle as well as personal lifestyle factors. Further, the look can be maintained indefinitely with refills. Properly applied extensions should remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out naturally.
The Details: Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). When a natural lash matures and falls out, new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable. With lash extensions, however, this same naturally occurring shedding process will be more noticeable since the extensions are longer and darker than natural lashes, making them much easier to spot. Please keep in mind that this is a perfectly normal occurrence, with or without extensions. Our highly-trained and skillful Lash Stylists will apply the lash extensions primarily to those lashes that are in the middle of their maturation cycle—never to baby lashes–to maximize the amount of they will last, without jeopardizing the health of the delicate baby lashes. Each extension will naturally fall out with the natural lash it is attached to when it reaches the end of its growth cycle. A few lash extensions may shed within the first week because the natural lashes they are attached to are at the end of their growth cycle. This is normal. Remember, we naturally shed lashes every day, even if we don’t notice them. Most extensions will remain in place for approximately two months!
With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed. Your lash stylist will add extensions to the newest mature natural lashes to maintain a full, lush appearance.
Black and brown are the two basic options. However, if you like to mix things up, we offer a variety of complimentary colors including pink, purple, green, blue and yellow that can be blended in for as subtle or as bold of a look as you want. Ask us about our signature look which incorporates subtle shades of colored lashes based around your own eye color to really make them pop!
Our commitment to quality means that we will only the best lashes and adhesives on the market. Our Xtreme Lashes eyelash extensions are crafted from hypoallergenic, synthetic polyester. Why would you want synthetic over real hair, you say? Well, we’re glad you asked! Synthetic lashes respond better to wear and tear than other materials such as mink hair, meaning that they’ll stay on a whole lot longer! In addition, synthetics have the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin. Testing has shown that there are higher percentages of people who will have adverse reactions to contact with lash extensions from animal hairs such as mink…and since pretty lashes just wouldn’t look as good with red, puffy, watery eyes caused by animal hair allergies, we’ve chosen to stick to the safest, most durable and hypoallergenic materials available, which are both animal and people friendly! Furthermore, we use the highest quality, formaldehyde-free adhesives on the market, because you’re eyes deserve the best!
Your eyelash stylist will remove them using a gentle lash adhesive remover to gently release them from your existing lashes without any damage to your own, natural lashes.
No, that’s the really cool part of this–you don’t need mascara!! You get save time and still look camera ready at all times, day or night!! If you want mascara, we recommend you use an oil-free mascara and only apply it on the tips of the extensions, not from the base to tip as the adhesive bond could loosen.
Yes, however please do exercise care when removing. Utilize Q-tips or oil-free makeup remover cloths. Do not use any oil-based eye makeup remover.
Do not pull on the lash. You can remove the individual lash by dipping a Q-tip into baby oil and letting it soak into the lash. You should remove this lash easily. If more than one lash becomes dislodged, please contact us.
Well, where do we even start?! Some choose to get lash extensions in order to lengthen their natural lashes, while others want their lashes to look fuller. People with naturally light-colored lashes get them to darken their existing lashes. Still, others love the different, fun looks they can achieve with highlighting and layering.
Ultimately, lash extensions help create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look! And we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet….
One of the biggest advantages of lash extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen. Lash extensions allow you to spend less time with makeup; mascara is certainly no longer necessary. Because our lashes are bigger at the base, they create the same effect as eyeliner so that step can be avoided as well. Did we mention that they are also water-proof? Yes, you can have the pretty look of mascara whether you’re at the beach, at the pool or simply belting out songs in the shower! Overall, our lash extensions will give you the appearance of having put significant effort into your eye makeup when, in reality, you spent no time at all. No application of mascara or eyeliner means less time getting ready and no need for eye makeup removal at the end of the day! The added benefit is that you can look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day! Say goodbye to the application of mascara, stained tears and mascara raccoon masks around the eyes. You can look and feel gorgeous from the moment you wake up and all whilst you are sleeping, with little to no effort.
Technically no. However, you may kinda sorta fall in love with your reflection. So you may develop an addiction to looking in the mirror. However, the extensions themselves do not contain additives that are addictive.
